Minimum guarantee levelsearch for term

The minimum income level the Government thinks people need to live on. Anyone over 60 who is living on an income less than the minimum income level is entitled to claim a top-up through the guarantee credit*. Currently, in 2009/10, the standard minimum guarantee is £130.00 for a single person and £198.45 for a couple. It is higher if you are severely disabled or are a carer, and you may be entitled to extra to cover housing costs. The minimum guarantee is increased in line with national average earnings.
